Greece
Greece in 7 Days
Athens plus islands, with ferry timetables deciding more of your itinerary than you would like.
Overview
Greece splits neatly into two halves: the mainland, where the history is, and the islands, where the holiday is. Most trips combine both, and the joining piece is always the ferry schedule.
Two or three nights in Athens is enough for the Acropolis, the museums and a couple of long evenings in Psyrri or Koukaki. After that, pick one island group and stay inside it. Hopping between the Cyclades and the Dodecanese in a single week usually means a lot of waiting at ports.
August is peak in every sense: heat, prices and crowds. June and September are far kinder, and the sea in September is warmer than most people expect.
